‘Not only are we delighted with the beautiful restoration of this historic statue, but we have been impressed by the research undertaken to ensure that the work was faithful to the original colours and materials rather than just a modern re-painting.’
Canon Gerry Breen
(Dean of St Chad’s Cathedral)
"Jeanette restored two statues and a crucifix for my parish in the Scottish Borders. Her attention to detail was extraordinary.
Some of my parishioners in their eighties told me that they had not seen the Sacred Heart or Our Lady looking so beautiful since their childhood.
The service Jeanette provided was faultless."
Fr. Kevin Douglas, R.C. Church of the Immaculate Conception. Jedburgh, Scottish Borders.
have called upon Jeanette to utilise her considerable artistic talent to enhance the worship environment in the four parishes I serve.
These include restoration of statuary, writing of an Icon and designing and painting a triptych comprised of scenes from the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
"I continue to be impressed with her depth of knowledge and creative skills, born out of her deep and abiding faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. I can speak with utmost confidence that whatever she is commissioned to do will be informed by much spiritual reflection and her firm grasp of the subject matter."
The Revd Bryant C. Bechtold, Priest-in-Charge of the Wainfleet Group of Parishes, Diocese of Lincoln, Church of England.
"For some years our Blesséd Mary has stood forlornly in our conservatory under a fig tree without her hands and sorely in need of refurbishment.
Each Christmas, as the family has gathered for dinner, she has been an ever present reminder of our "sins of omission" during the past year.
"I was delighted when we managed to find Jeanette and David Lewis. They assured me that Mary could be restored and drove all the way from Bootle to Darlington to collect her.
In less that two months we have her home in time for Christmas, hands restored and beautifully repainted in her original colours.
"Our heartfelt thanks to Jeanette and David for highly professional restoration work and excellent service."
Mr. Jolyon Potter. Darlington.
"As part of the redecoration works at our church, we engaged the services of Jeanette and David to restore various statuary, including those of the reredos and Stations of the Cross.
Jeanette and David were highly recommended to us; and from the first meeting, through to completion of works, the whole process was stress free.
"We are most grateful to"Lewis and Lewis" for their wonderful work, and integrity of service; their creative skills will benefit today’s parishioners, and those of future generations."
Fr Tim Buckley C.Ss.R St Mary’s R.C. Church, Much Woolton Liverpool, Merseyside.
"I write on behalf of the parishioners of St John's to thank you for the work you carried out in restoring our statue of Our Lady. The transformation is unbelievable and your work has been very much admired. We are all most grateful for the research you provided on its age, etc.
Thank you once again. We would certainly recommend your work."
Pamela Crabtree "The Friends of St John's" St. John the Baptist Church Rochdale.
The statue of the Sacred Heart which you so beautifully restored; - (everyone who had seen it before you had worked on it, was completely bowled over by the sensitive transformation) - was installed in our church yesterday and blessed after all three Masses; A huge thank you to you and your husband for all your hard work in helping us to restore this statue to its rightful place.
We pray that the influence of this powerful image will profoundly affect all who pray in the church of St. Francis. Every blessing and, of course, prayers before the Sacred Heart!"
Mary Ashfield R.C. Church of St. Francis Maidstone
"For a number of years our Christ the King statue stood in a corner forgotten and looking in a very sorry state. We decided to have the statue restored, but didn't want to just send it away to a large restoration company.
"After some very helpful preliminary enquiries with Jeanette, we decided to employ her skills and expertise in the restoration. The statue needed some considerable work, as it had been stored in a damp cellar for many years.
From the first enquiry to the return of the restored statue, Jeanette used her vast knowledge to inform us about the possible origins of the statue and about the process she used during the restoration.
"I knew we had set Jeanette quite a challenge with the restoration, yet her thoughtful, spiritual and considerate approach to the work gave me confidence in her ability to bring the statue back to life.
"I highly commend Jeanette and the work of Lewis and Lewis for their excellent creative skills and sympathetic approach to their work."
Revd John Rogers Vicar of Christ Church, Oakworth, West Yorkshire. Bradford Diocese.
